Arthur Charles Vernon Perry

The family of Arthur (Art) Charles Vernon Perry are saddened to announce the passing of their beloved husband and father on January 21st 2026, at the age of 100.

Arthur was predeceased by his mother, Effie Jane (Fanjoy) (Perry) Andrews; his father, Bud Perry; his stepfather, George Andrews; and his special cousin, Elva (Vail) McConnachie.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nellie (Thorne) Perry, and his two daughters, Shirley Appleby (Malcolm) and Shelley Poirier  (Jean-Yves), and his granddaughter Tanya Larsen, sisters-in-laws, Virginnia Viger and Rita Thorne, several nieces and nephews, many friends, and special cousin Jim Thorne.

Arthur lost his father at the tender age of two and went to work in the woods at the age of 15. Many still marvel at the impressive amount of trees he could cut in a day with only the use of a double-bitted axe and a buck saw. In those early years, Arthur also worked farming, driving teams of horses for Victor Robinson and Arthur Jones.  Before retiring at 62, he spent 21 years working for the Federal Government at the Experimental Farm in Fredericton.

If you knew Art, you know that he was a great lover of the outdoors and enjoyed most activities associated with hunting, fishing, and gardening.   His garden was his pride and joy. Art was an avid cross-country skier and skied well into the later part of his 80’s.

The family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to the staff of the Duffy Unit in the Oromocto Hospital and the Mill Cove Nursing home for the care and compassion extended to Art over the past three years.  We will never forget your kindness.

In Memory of Arthur, donations can be made to the Cody’s Baptist Church or  the Second Cambridge Baptist Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to the Cody’s Baptist Church, 839 Route 710, Cody's NB. on Friday January 23, 2026 for visitations from 11am – 2pm.  A celebration of Arthur’s Life will follow at 2:15 with Pastor’s Poirier and Ferris officiating.
